Years of chalet experience have taught us there is more to a good skiing holiday than just good skiing. We believe that good skiing combined with delicious food, a great location, a personal service, fantastic staff and a chalet you want to come home to is the key to success. At Fish and Pips it is our aim to provide all of the above and a little bit more……
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially when skiing, so cereal, yogurts, fruit, porridge, fresh croissants and bread with homemade jam, and even good old English eggs and bacon should fill you up. For an action packed day, as you leave in the morning have a pick from our basket of mini chocolate bars, piste maps and tissues waiting by the door!
When you return, the chalet will be filled with the aroma of baking, the table will be laid with an ample spread for afternoon tea, fresh bread and jams, and daily baked cakes for you to enjoy whilst reading your choice of daily UK newspapers, an hour of peace to sit back and relax, or have a snooze before dinner.
If we have children in the chalets, we offer a High Tea served at 6pm. For the less distinguished kiddies’ palette, spag bol, mini chicken pies, make your own pizzas and anything else they fancy can be arranged.
As the night draws in, drinks and canapés served to you by the Fish and Pips team precede a sumptuous four course meal with an unlimited supply of house wine.
From the moment you arrive, you will be looked after by your chalet chef and host. You will be helped with your luggage and served a glass of chilled champagne, or for early arrivals, a cup of tea and piece of homemade cake.
After you have settled in, pros from Freeride.fr will be on hand to fit the latest models of skis and boots, telemarks, snowboards or even snowblades in the comfort of your arm chair! Meanwhile your ski passes are being collected for you and your sumptious dinner is being prepared. All you have to do is sit back, relax and enjoy your holiday.
If you wish, the ski schools will pop in to confirm your bookings or make any last minute changes if necessary.
During the week, both Philippa and Holly are on hand for any queries, help, recommendations or bookings. As well as driving our new 8 seater minibus for ski school runs if required in the morning, this winter we are offering our complimentary services as ski hosts*, showing you round the mountains we have come to know and love.
* this facility is free of charge and is not guaranteed
We welcome children at Ski Fish & Pips and have all the necessary bits and bobs that come with them including cots, highchairs, toys, sterilisers etc. We are happy to purchase any additional necessaries from nappies to special food treats!
We also offer a high-tea where your chef will provide a variety of balanced meals and puds for you little ones, and of course will be more than happy to cook any favourites they might have.
For children from 2-12 years, staying in their own room we offer a reduction of 10% off the quoted per person price.

This winter we have added a further chalet, Chalet du Guide to our collection taking us up to 6 chalets. The 6th comes from Chalet L’Ours, new to us last year, and such a success that it now features on the website full time.
At Fish and Pips each of our chalets has a winning feature in our eyes, be it the bubbling hot tubs at Aurigny and Chalet du Guide, the large South facing terraces of Corblettes and Braye - the ideal spot to bask in the afternoon sunshine, watching the sun sink over the Roc de Fer. or the personal décor and sumptious sofas of Le Christophe and L’Ours - sink down in front of the roaring open fire and relax after a hard day on the mountain, boots snug on the boot warmer, glass of wine in hand, nibbling on a delicious canapé whilst you watch your chef cook away in the open plan kitchen.
Each of our homely bedrooms have a real alpine feel, with dark timber beams and furniture, crisp white duvets and pillows as well as more than ample storage space for your mountains of outfits for all occasions. The bathrooms come fully equipped with fluffy towels and dressing gowns, soaps and smellies all ready for you to be pampered!
Each chalet is kitted out with all the modern amenities; sky TV, DVD player and DVDs, CD player, books and games. For those who cannot quite bring themselves to leave the office to its own devices and bring their laptops instead we do have wireless internet access.
Our 3 identical neighbouring chalets Aurigny, Braye and Corblettes allow the flexibility to accommodate both small parties of 8 and larger parties of up to 24.
Chalet Corblettes offers mainly a Self-Catered service, this again is fully flexible depending on numbers and your requirements. Please feel free to discuss with us.
All of our chalets can be found in Meribel Village, a stone’s throw from the Golf Chairlift connecting you to the best playground around Trois Vallees. In all but Chalet du Guide (which is only a 2 minute walk), enjoy the rare luxury of being able to ski right to you very own front door

We are both Cordon Bleu trained, have worked in reputable London catering companies, have plenty of chalet chefing experience, and many a dinner party under our belts! Each trained chef designs their own menus, allowing natural flare and the best of the local produce.

For the self catered guest you can have as much or as little as you like! For a little extra you have a choice of one or all of the below:
Meribel, discreetly nestled in forests of Arolla pine - is not only the heart of the 3Vs but is, in our opinion, the most superior of the 3. Meribel is the most aesthetically pleasing and has the greatest accessibility to the whole trois vallees. Along with Meribel, the soaring peaks of Val Thorens and the fantastic restaurants in Courchevel make up the extensive skiing of the trois vallees, one of the largest and best linked ski areas in the world.
Meribel Village is situated 2km from the main town; it is linked via a chair a stones throw from your front door to the altiport, the main beginner’s area in Meribel. From there you not only have easy access to Courchevel, but avoid the big queues that tend to form at peak times at the Chaudanne, the main lift area in the resort itself. The route home could not be easier; a gentle blue run from the bottom of the altiport allows you to ski right to your front door, such a rarity in Meribel.
Meribel Village is home to the renowned bar restaurant Le Lodge de Village with live music most evenings for après, for fine dining on your staff day off Le Bois Mille, a small supermarket and a yummy French patisserie / café in what is renowned as the ‘best bakery in the 3 Valleys’. Undoubtedly the best après ski to be had is at the Rond Point which you'll find on your way down the mountain. After a few toffee vodkas and vin chauds you can either ski back, or hop on the bus.
If you are tempted by the bright lights of the main town there's an array of bars awaiting. The local bus leaves from the bottom of the chairlift regularly between 8am and midnight, after that there are plenty of taxis to bring you back the 1.5km from Dicks T Bar (the famous British nightclub, conveniently positioned on your way home), though you may be tempted to walk off the Mutzig and Genepe! This year Fish and Pips have invested in a minibus so will run any revelers into town after supper before 10pm.
For further information on the resort visit Meribel's website: www.merinet.com
Some of the most fantastic skiing in the Alps, with 600km of home runs, peaks rising to 3300m and 550 snow cannons on standby when the heavens are not obeying. There are gentle runs around the Altiport for beginners, miles of blues and reds in all directions for the intermediates, couloirs for the experts and two snow parks for the nutters!
The lift system is one of the best in the world, updated before last season, gone are the days of a dropped glove, or an elastic snapping in your face as you struggle to find your lift pass tucked into you millions of layers, the Trois Vallees has gone electronic. You simply pop your lift pass in your pocket.

We recommend two fantastic ski schools in Meribel, Magic Academy and Parallel Lines. We are more than happy to help arrange lessons for you or alternatively you can book online.
Magic Academy www.magicinmotion.co.uk
Highly recommended, Magic Academy offers a very personal service. The ski school specialises in English taught group ski lessons as well as private tuition for both adults and children. It is renowned for its superb children's lessons with innovative activities such as catching the Magic Mouse! Groups are kept to a maximum of 6 children for 'Little Ones' and 8 pupils for 'Kids Fun Factory' and are taught exclusively in English.
Parallel Lines Ski and Snowboard School www.parallel-lines.com
Parallel Lines is a personable and professional British Ski & Snowboard School based in Meribel. All of the Parallel Lines Team are British Instructors holding the highest British and European qualifications.
Whether you're a beginner or advanced, skier or snowboarder, adult or child, they can help to take your enjoyment of the mountains to the next level.
We have chosen Freeride as our ski shop partner for one simple reason, they offer the best!
As passionate skiers and snowboarders the guys at Freeride appreciate that having good equipment, that performs for you is also a huge factor in getting the most from your holiday, that’s why all their rental skis boards and boots are brand new each year, so you get to ski or board on the latest equipment and wearing comfortable boots too! For adults and children.
Freeride have a fantastic range with models from K2, Head, Dynastar, Volkl, Salomon, Scott and Nordica with specific ladies models too.
Freeride recognise the importance of having your equipment fitted expertly, and not just by queuing for hours outside a rental shop, Freeride bring the service to you, in the comfort of your chalet, via their team of Mobile Ski Technicians.
Before you arrive in Meribel we advise you to pre-book your equipment online via the link to Freeride, so you receive the ultimate service. When you pre-book on-line, your equipment will be ready and waiting for you at your chalet, a Mobile Technician will visit to check everything fits perfectly.
What’s more if you pre-book online before the 1st of November you will receive a 10% discount.
If you haven’t pre-booked online, a Mobile Ski-Technician will visit you and discuss your requirements, take all your necessary details then return later the same evening with your equipment.
You can even swap your equipment at no extra cost, for equipment in the same category.
The equipment is then collected at the end of your stay.
If you have your own equipment they will even take it to be serviced in their Hi-Tech state of the art ski workshop, and deliver it back ready for you to ski the following morning.
Geneva, Lyon and Chambery airports are all within a reasonable distance of Meribel.
Some of the main airlines to try are:
Flights from all major UK airports to Geneva; and from Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester to Lyon
If you feel like treating yourself, we can organise your transfer from the airport by helicopter, flying into the Altiport, just above the Village. From there the mobile team from Freeride.Fr will greet you with your skis ready to ski to your front door!
We can arrange a private transfer up to Meribel from whichever airport you choose.
Cars - There is a strong case for travelling by car, loading your bags, children and kitchen sink in at one end, without the risk of losing a beloved teddy bear, or treasured pair of ski boots on the carousel at the airport! Ferry crossings are regular, as are the channel tunnel crossings.
It is approximately 8 hours from Calais to Meribel, about £45 in tolls, but at peak times traffic towards the Savoyard resorts gets very busy, bear in mind one road services not only the 3 Valleys, but Val d’Isere, Tignes, Les Arcs, to name but a few!
The chalets have allocated parking with 20m walk to your front door, so no lugging up 10 flights of stairs! Snow chains are advisable, though the routes are cleared regularly and you should get in without. Try www.halfords.com for your 6 piece winter essential kit!
Trains - On Saturdays, you are able to get the direct train from Waterloo to Moutiers. This leaves around 9am and gets you in to Moutiers at a civilised 5pm, a 25 minutes transfer from Meribel.
This year Fish and Pips will have a minibus! We will be offering transfers on a first come, first served basis at a competitive rate. If you find we are already booked then we will happily arrange your private transfer to and from the airport/station with reputable companies, just let us know the details and we can give you all the price information.
| Transfer Times | |
|---|---|
| Geneva | 2 hours |
| Lyon | 2 hours |
| Chambery | 1 hour |
| Moutiers | 25 minutes |
Fish & Pips, otherwise know as Phillippa Eyles (the 'Pips'!) and Holly Fisher (the 'Fish'!) go back a long long way. Having grown up, family holidayed, travelled and worked together, we are the oldest and the greatest of friends.
After we'd finished University at Edinburgh and Brighton (respectively) it became clear that our endless visits to career advisers had told us nothing in comparison to our next few seasons in the Alps that would tell us everything. It's what we love, and it's what we do best.
We've worked for various chalet companies and more importantly, we've holidayed with various chalet companies, so we know what works, what doesn't, what's important and what isn't.
We wanted to create a skiing experience with all the good bits, the bits that really matter, and without the bits that dont. Fantastic food, great locations and a friendly, efficient and competent service are all here for you when you holiday with Fish and Pips. And, what's more, you wont have to pay through the nose for it. So why not find out some more....
